Living to the Plus- go past the truth to find your truth

Image
When I swam across Canyon Lake in December 2019, in 56-degree water for 8 miles over 5 hours, I had to go past my truth. I also had to go past a truth or many truths when I ran around the New Bruanfels Circle 2019 times, or 256 miles in 8th miles loops over 24 days. I had to go past a lot of truths when I finished Great Floridian 140.6 Ultra Tri undertrained. Then I found my truth, that I could do what I set out to do. I had to just keep TRIng and keep going. When have you pushed past a truth you told yourself, something you could not do. Something you were not strong enough, or tall enough, or smart enough, or tough enough? What did it feel like when you walked over that threshold of the truth you believe, into the truth you created? Is there something in front of you, something that you are scared of to step over? Is there a wall of truths you are telling yourself to be scared of not to push towards this challenge? What are some of the things you are telling yourself? OR what are som...

Living to the Plus- Interview with Jay Jones

Why are we here? What does podcast or creating content mean to us what does it do for us? How did we meet, what are our connections and 7 steps of separation? Who is Jay Jones? Where have you been, where are you now, and where are you going? Thoughts on education, bring educated, being “smart” or good at memorization vs being creative or outside the fringe of programmed society. Living life by tapes vs deep thinking and action towards improvement and growth. What is trash talking online or on social? What does it do for us? How does the divide in society affect you? What can we do to change it? What is the difference between a social media group, an in person group meeting or networking, and the old days when kids played in the neighborhood all summer long made forts, bike adventures, getting into trouble? What is one thing you could change today that would change the world tomorrow?

Living to the Plus- Connection- Networking- Groups - Mentors - Leaders- Servant Leaders

Image
How is your connection or connections? Do you have a support chain or network? Do you know networking is one of the greatest super powers? The phrase "it's not what you know but who you know" can truly be used to your advantage or detriment on how you use your network. If you have a passion or an objective, you can only do so much alone. Yet if you have an established network of resources, you can ask for help, delegate and collaborate to accomplish your goal faster, stronger and more effective. Another form of networking is groups and a way to connect. Weather it be on social media or (not in Vid-19 times) in person. Groups offer a bank of people and resources. If you utilize them effectively they can help motivate, keep you accountable and to help you reach your goals. What groups are you in and how do they benefit you? They say in order to become a Master at something you have to do that action or skill 10,000 times. Are you a Master at anything? How much time or times...

Living to the Plus- The Energy from Plugging in your Phone

Image
Every day we have to plug in our phones. Energy is going into the phone. After it’s charged the output of that energy is extracted by us using our phone. What energy will you extract? Creation vs consumption? Have you ever thought about using your phone as either creation or add to live, to the PLUS OR as consumptive, killing time and energy, to the MINUS? Go ahead and try it- stay on your phone all day just consuming/ scrolling/ interacting (drama). Then spend a day with the intention just to create, imagine, explore your extended brain to learn or contribute. Now tell me how you feel at the end of the day comparatively between the two days with different intentions. What would the world be like if more of us started the day with the intention to create and solve problems vs spending the day consuming and looking for problems or drama or conflict? Next time you plug in your phone think about this, what is your intention going to be for the output of that energy. Is your overall energy...

Living to the Plus- Growth and Contribution

Image
Did you have a "normal" Thanksgiving or was it abnormal? What was different? How did it make you feel? We gathered with some family, but not as many as usual and for not as long. I don't get too much into traditional holiday's. I was like after the first 10 years or so, do we really have to do this every year, can we try something new, how about at least some new Christmas songs..? Last year even, I avoided the traditional "family Christmas" and took the boys out to the hill country for some hiking and seclusion, to get away from all the hustle and bustle of marketing and consumerism. I just wanted quality time with my boys. This year though with the Vid-19 and a political shit storm I really don't know what to think. I think it is pretty messed up around the country they are actually telling people to just "cancel" the holiday's this year, it is disturbing... Anyway, maybe another blog topic... What I would like to talk about is, that most...

Living to the Plus- Being Thankful for Living in Gratitude

Image
Living to the Plus- Being Thankful for Living in Gratitude  I was wondering, am I saying I am thankful for being thankful..? Nah, living in gratitude, living in the Plus, is being a certain place in your head, your body, and your soul. It seems when we are in a wanting state, a consumptive state, all we want to do is fill ourselves or fulfill with emptiness. We WANT material and external things that we acquire or consume, do they really fill us up inside or does it make us want more? To live in Gratitude, to live to the Plus is being aware and recognizing what you do have that is not material or consumptive but the things that make you who you are and the tool you have to be the PLUS you and contribute to others. Beng our PLUS self and helping others be their PLUS self is what fulfills us, what makes us wake up in the morning, what gets us excited, what tests us, what makes us grow, and what makes us grow our TEAM. What are you grateful for? Do you write down what you are grateful ...

Living to the Plus- Team Work Makes the Dream Work

Image
I had two experiences today of what teamwork Is about.  I work in a warehouse, a big warehouse with a lot of activity. Sometimes we have bumps, sometimes our forklifts hit pipes, sometimes these pipes break, and sometimes we get a crap load of water on the warehouse floor slowing shipping. To see the Teamwork that snaps into action to get a literal lake get cleaned up in less than an hour is sheer amazement. Secondly, this afternoon my sons and friends help move a washer and dryer and a vey heavy piano. We also received help from one of QueenT nephews getting the heavy piano off Rivs truck. Mission accomplished with no one getting hurt. Teamwork makes the dream work. Do you have a Team? A crew, group, club, squad, unit, fam? Or Are you a loner, a one teamer, a solo Calrissian? How far have you gotten with that? Do you think you would make it farther if you had a Team? A support Crew? A cheering Squad? Live to the Plus. Find your Team. People who support you, want you to be your bes...

Over Coming Fear- Living to the Plus

Image
When I was a kid I was always one of the smaller kids or as I am now mid sized. I remember one time I was in kindergarten or first grade and they were building a new building for the preschool. They asked me to come over and test the height of the sink because I was shorter like in the preschoolers. I think with a combination of thinking that I was small and with my Oma and mom still were kind of worriers... I think that influenced me at a young age. This is where my dad comes in. I remember as a kid being deathly afraid of sailing, sometimes my dad would go off roading with a non-offloading vehicle, and going to Cub Scouts. These are some of the things I had fear. I do not remember fighting my dad or my mom to go to these adventures  but I remember when I was at them I had the fear. Fast forward to today I have done some ““ epic things that you would say I have become comfortable being uncomfortable a.k.a. swimming across the lake and 56° water for five hours. I think the re...

Toxins and Solutions

Image
Well with recent events it is in question if we will even have sports to watch anymore. What do yall think? I am not going to get into politics and I know we all like the good-bad stuff when we are watching the game. But would it kill us to try to have more good-good stuff more often? How can we make this easier? Toxins - According the Global Healing Center we are exposed to anywhere between 700,000 to 2,100,000 toxins on a daily basis if we include  the crazy poisons that GMO companies are pumping into the food supply. So given this knowledge, health is defined as the ability to heal, correct? Does it make since that if we are exposed to these toxins every day it could be damaging our cells and the ability to heal? Would it make since that people having more issues with current disease might have weaker cells? Food for thought. Top Three Toxins found in homes today- 1. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)     Risks- Vision and breathing issues, headaches, d...

Image
A Breath of Freedom Today we celebrate our Independence Yet do we breathe free? The Rona can take our breath away How do we breathe? George Floyd- "I Can't breathe" Do we allow breath? Living to the Plus Through a Pandemic

Image
How do you feel right now? Do you feel strong, weak, afraid, confused, anxious, like a caged animal, or a animal fighting for survival? I feel like the animal fighting for survival! I feel like my whole life has prepared me for this moment, this crisis, this pandemic. I am not going to get political or anything, but we have royally screwed up! Life= Living + Disease + Sick + Health + Death + Natural Selection = A Stronger Species The US has become weak and needs hardship to become stronger = Facts of Life. We can’t beat nature with idiocy and ignorance. We can reduce our risk and improve our chances by getting strong, getting healthy, getting off our butts, getting out side, planting and growing our own food, eating right, getting active, and helping other to do the same. The shut down made sense at first but we screwed it up. People can’t follow directions. Every day we continue not functioning as a smarter society means more and more serious pro...

Do you cook a lot? Do you cook at all? When you cook, is it fresh or from a box or bag? Did you know cooking once or twice a week can really set you up for better health and save some cash? On average, most Americans eat out over 5 times a week. Eating out is typically 5 times more expensive than cooking at home. Eating out increases coronary heart disease by 80%... The 3M Half Marathon

Image
Who is running the 3M Half Marathon this weekend? The 3M Half Marathon and I go way back. If I remember correctly, this was my first half marathon, back when I was 14 years old! Also, if I remember correctly (Athlinks does not accumulate results before 2000 I believe), I ran this first 3M half  marathon in 1 hour and 18 min. This was just under a 6 min pace for 13.1 miles. I think it was this same year, but I also have one of most dreadful memories at this race. It was below freezing at the start line that year. I was wearing gloves, but cotton gloves. At about half way, I remember spilling quite a bit of water on my gloves. Soon enough my hands went numb. If you have ever had an similar experience, you know what happened next. When I finished the race, but hands began to thaw. This was extremely painful like knives were cutting my fingers and hands. I ended up living through this experience, but I learned a good lesson and ordered water wicking gloves and a water proof shell...
